The 2025 Women’s Football Awards celebrated the finest talents, trailblazers, and changemakers in the women’s game during a glittering ceremony that highlighted the rapid growth and impact of women’s football in the UK and beyond tonight (Thursday 1 May).
Hosted by broadcasting icon Gabby Logan and football legend Jamie Carragher, the event, which is Europe’s biggest awards celebration of women’s football, was a powerful showcase of excellence both on and off the pitch.
The headline accolade, Player of the Year, was shared between two Lionesses who lit up the domestic and international stage: Lauren James of Chelsea and Alessia Russo of Arsenal. Both players delivered standout seasons for club and country, embodying the talent, passion, and progress of the modern women’s game.
Chelsea’s dominance on the night was undeniable. Rising star Aggie Beever-Jones took home the Young Player of the Year Award, while Chelsea FC Women were crowned Club of the Year. In addition, Chelsea Women’s manager Sonia Bompastor was honoured with the Manager of the Year award, marking a stunning debut season in charge.
Broadcasting talent was also recognised, with the esteemed Seema Jaswal winning Broadcaster of the Year. The broadcaster was applauded for her commitment to elevating the profile of women’s football.
Global organisations and brands that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to the women’s game were also honoured. Adobe, Three UK, Persil, and Sky Sports took home top awards for their innovation and advocacy, while The FA was celebrated for Best Social Media thanks to its dynamic and engaging Lionesses content. Tottenham Hotspur also received special recognition for its leadership in promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the sport.
Women’s Football Awards host Gabby Logan said:
“The stories we heard tonight are shaping the future of football. From world-class players like Lauren James and Alessia Russo to the trailblazing work being done off the pitch by clubs, brands, and broadcasters – every winner represents a step forward for the women’s game.
The Women’s Football Awards have been an inspiring celebration of progress, purpose, and passion once again.”
Jamie Carragher, co-host for the evening, praised the winners, saying:
“The Women’s Football Awards is Europe’s biggest celebration of the people powering the phenomenal rise of the women’s game. It was a privilege to be involved once again and help shine a light on the players, coaches, clubs, and leaders who are not just making history, they are changing the future of football.”
