Liverpool
Liverpool Women returned to the Women’s Super League in 2022 after earning promotion and impressed under the management of Matt Beard, finishing a respectable 7th place. The club also earned plaudits for their partnership with Expedia, offering free coach travel to every away Women’s Super League fixture in 2023-24.
Chelsea
Chelsea, the most successful club in Women’s Super League history, enjoyed a spectacular year, winning the Women’s Super League and FA Cup as well as reaching the semi-final of the Champions League. Chelsea players have also supported mentoring programmes, networking events and specialist programmes within the wider community.
Arsenal
Arsenal continue to be a leading light of the Women’s Super League and were awarded a prestigious Sports Business Award in 2023. Arsenal players Leah Williamson and Kim Little were also named on the 2023 Honours List for their services to football. The club broke the Women’s Super League attendance record with a crowd of over 60,000 at The Emirates this season.
Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur continue to impress with their Female Talent Pathway, working with local grassroots clubs to identify talented players and develop their game. They also run a football academy in partnership with Barnet and Southgate College for 16-19 year-old female players.
Manchester United
Manchester United, who were named Best Club at the inaugural Women’s Football Awards, proclaimed their commitment to their women’s side on the eve of the new campaign, insisting they will ‘change what it means to be a fan of women’s football’. United once again used Old Trafford for the Manchester derby fixture against City.
Lewes Women
Wrexham
Wrexham, backed by Hollywood megastars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, rewarded their women’s team with 10 semi-professional contracts after promotion to the Welsh top-flight in 2023. In doing so, they became the first club in North Wales to operate a semi-pro women’s setup.
Southampton
Southampton have once more invested and committed to improve participation and inclusion in women’s football while enjoying a successful season in the Women’s Championship. Kayla Rendell and Milly Mott were both winners in the 2023 On Her Side awards after impressing for the club.
Brighton and Hove Albion
Brighton and Hove Albion have been given permission to build a purpose-built ground for their women’s team. The Women’s Super League side will become the first team in the world to have a stadium designed specifically for their women’s outfit. Brighton have been members of the Women’s Super League since 2018.
Manchester City
Manchester CIty have unveiled plans for a £10 million, state-of-the-art training facility for their women’s team in 2024. City – whose current Joie Stadium is the first and biggest purpose-built stadium in the Women’s Super League – will also continue to implement their women’s team as a central part of the £200m City Football Academy.
