Ovarian Cancer Action has been announced as the official charity partner for the Women’s Football Awards for the second year running.
Now in its second year, the Women’s Football Awards is the biggest celebration of women’s football, shining a light on the players, people, brands and organisations contributing to the phenomenal growth of the women’s game.
The event was launched in 2023 by former Lioness Eni Aluko and Liverpool FC legend and Sky Sports presenter Jamie Carragher. This year’s celebration will take place at London’s Marriott Grosvenor Square on 30 May.
Ovarian Cancer Action returns as a charity partner to help raise awareness of its mission to transform the survival rates of ovarian cancer, with only three in 10 women diagnosed currently living beyond 10 years.
England Lioness and Arsenal shooter Beth Mead was appointed as an official ambassador of the charity in 2023 after her mum, June, passed away from the disease earlier that year, just two years after she was diagnosed.
Since partnering with the charity, Beth has captained the annual Walk in Her Name challenge twice, a 100km sponsored walk which takes place in March to mark Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. This year she is taking part alongside 16 of her Arsenal teammates.
Ovarian Cancer Action was launched in 2006. Since its inception, the charity has funded over £12 million of ovarian cancer research to develop new ways to tackle the disease and help women get earlier diagnoses.

“In the UK 13 women a day like June Mead die of ovarian cancer. We need to fund lifesaving research into better treatments and early detection or it won’t change. Partnerships like this with Women’s Football Awards give us a brilliant platform to create awareness and take us closer to a world without this disease.”

“Over 4,000 women lose their lives to ovarian cancer in the UK each year, but if diagnosed at the earliest stage, 9 in 10 women will survive.
